I Renal Sinus surrounds the renal artery, renal vein and renal pelvis.

II Superior to each kidney is the adrenal gland attached in renal fat and connective tissue.

Transcribed: I - Renal sinus surrounds the renal artery, renal vein and renal pelvis. II - Superior to each kidney is the adrenal gland attached in renal fat and connective tissue. A. First statement is correct, second statement is incorrect. B. First statement is incorrect, second statement is correct. C. Both statements are correct. D. Both statements are incorrect.

Answer

The excretory system primarily consists of the kidney, urinary bladder, ureter, etc. Urea, creatine, and other drug metabolic wastes from the blood are removed by the kidney.

The urine produced by the kidney is highly concentrated and has a pale yellow color due to the presence of a pigment called urochrome. Urochrome is a byproduct of the degradation of urobilinogen.

  • The kidney is a bean-shaped organ. The urine is produced from the kidney through filtration, secretion, and reabsorption. The urine from the kidney reaches the urinary bladder through the ureter. The hilum of the kidney is the region through which the blood vessels and ureter passes through.

The renal sinus is a hollow structure, an extension of the hilum. It consists of the blood vessels, nerves, renal pelvis, renal calyces, etc. it also contains some adipose tissue.

  • There is an endocrine gland located at the superior most region of the kidney, which is known as the adrenal gland. The adrenal gland is present within the renal fascia. The renal fascia is rich in collagen and is a fibrous connective tissue. A fatty capsule covers the adrenal gland. It secretes steroid hormones like cortisol and aldosterone. The hormones produced by these glands help in regulation of blood pressure, immune system, metabolism, etc.

Since both the statements are correct, option c is correct.

  • Option A is incorrect.

The adrenal gland is present above both the kidney and is covered by connective tissue called renal fascia and a fatty capsule. Hence the provided statement is correct. Therefore, option A is incorrect.

  • Option B is incorrect.

The renal sinus is a hollow structure that has blood vessels- renal arteries, and renal vein, also it has nerves and pelvis. Therefore, it cannot be a wrong statement.

  • Option D is incorrect.

Since both the options are correct, option D is not the appropriate choice.

Renal sinus surrounds the renal artery, renal vein and renal pelvis

Superior to each kidney is the adrenal gland attached in renal fat and connective tissue.

Both the given statements are correct, hence option C) Both the statements are correct is true.
